Oh, boy!

This past weekend was a whole lot of fun. The husband and I headed to a party at our good friend's house and took my MOH along as well! We attempted to play poker and blackjack, but settled on drunken UNO instead. Much fun to be had, let me tell you. I won one round, and Bethany took quite a few rounds herself. It's those quiet ones you have to watch out for.

And as promised, here are pictures from the Dover craft show.

And we can't forget the puppy!

Our new winners!

In third place we have LacyLola!

And in second place we have marisajay!

Congrats to the new winners!

Valley Merry Christmas was overall a success for me. My dear grandfather surprised me by making two wooden doll houses for me to sell. I only sold one of them, but to someone I know. My second grade teacher!!! She was so excited to take it home to her granddaughter. I also had someone interested in purchasing fabric roses from me to turn into hair pins and jewelry to sell in beauty salons. Later in the week I have to send her pictures of the fabric I have so we can decided what she wants to purchase.

Also had my family's Thanksgiving on Saturday. We took Miss Ivy with us and everyone loved her to pieces, especially my little cousins. Right now, Ivy is whining for no particular reason and it's quite annoying. She may be cute, but man is she needy.

Pictures of the craft show in Dover should be up tomorrow. I also plan on taking some pictures of the other doll house to show you all!

Hey, contest winners!

So far only one out of three of my giveaway winners has contacted me. Dave and Nosen, you have until the end of the day to shoot me an email. If neither contacts me, I'll redraw for 2nd and 3rd place winners. Always a chance, folks!

Boom or Bust

First, the bad news. The craft show in Dover was a total bust. I sold 4 things and made $18. That didn't even cover the cost of the table! It was bad for everyone, though. No one really sold anything. Valley Merry Christmas is this coming weekend; things should go better there.

And, once again, my camera is MIA. If I can find it here in the next few days I'll post pictures from the craft show.

In other news, I'm working on Christmas dresses for my dog, Chloe. And.... the new puppy! Say hello to Miss Ivy.

And speaking of Chloe, I've made her her very own doggie closet! It was made from an old crate that I had found at the ReStore for $3. It was an ugly, mustard yellow color. Now it's more of a sunshiney, happy yellow. The plaque at the top is the slat that was on it's side (now the top). The rod is just a spare piece of wood I had laying around. Thankfully, I didn't have to saw anything. Just pounded in a few nails.

Hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving! And be careful out there on Black Friday!!!
Cheers!!!

All quiet on the home front

It's been a few days since my last post and I apologize. My camera's battery died and I can't seem to find the charging cord. I would love to post pictures of what I've been working on, there's quite a bit, but alas, not until I can find my camera cord.

I've been working hard on trying to get stuff done for the craft show in Dover next weekend. I'm not sure how well it's going to go. These smaller craft shows tend to attract older ladies who don't like my "edgy" art. So time to fire up the glue gun and make a bunch of wreathes for the old gals!

Hopefully, I can find my camera cord today and get some pictures taken of everything. I've been working so hard that I haven't had time to cross stitch. So, to my darling Bethany whom I've told I'm working on something for, I am so sorry. Forgive me? <3

So no craft pictures. How about puppies?

A Giveaway!!!

It's high-time for a giveaway, don't you think? My humble little blog wants to be a star (or at least higher on a search of my name!) and I think a dual purpose giveaway should do the trick!

As you all know, I love reddit. I spend a great deal of time on there and have really found a place in the community. Well, a fellow redditor has his own search engine! It's geared towards people who don't like google's somewhat-evil method of displaying search results based on your interests and facebook info. So in order to promote DuckDuckGo and to bring some more traffic to my humble corner of the internet, we're doing a giveaway!

To enter, just comment on this blog entry. It can be whatever you like!* Tell me about the weather in your neighborhood! Your new cat! Or how Bigfoot just stole a beer from the fridge! One comment per contestant, please. Also, it's only open to United States residents. Shipping is expensive, yo!

*Except for not safe for work material, racist, homophobic, sexist, and generally mean stuff.

We'll have three winners.

Third place will receive:
A narwhal cross stitched book mark in the color of their choice AND a pair of micro-tomato earrings in the color of their choice.

Second place will receive:
A narwhal cross stitched book mark, a pair of micro-tomato earrings AND a medium sized bouquet of ribbon roses.

First place will receive:
A narwhal bookmark, micro-tomato earrings, a LARGE sized bouquet of ribbon roses, AND a piece of altered art* AND a music inspired birdhouse.

*The art you see here is not the one you'll be receiving. I'll make you something special and unique!

The contest will run from now until November 15th.

So, please check out DuckDuckGo and leave your comment to enter the giveaway! Good luck, everyone!

Antique Shopping

Hubby and I headed out to Amish Country on Saturday to do some antique shopping. It was fun, but I don't think I ever want to go back on a Saturday EVER AGAIN! I'm not one for large crowds and places were so packed that I was elbowing people out of the way to keep them from stepping on me. We didn't even find a place to sit down and eat lunch! We ended up getting beef sticks, some marble cheese, and a half gallon of chocolate milk and chowed down in the car. I did manage to find quite a few treasures while out and about.

I found this quilt for $5(!!!!). It's quite ragged and stained, but I think I'm going to tea stain the whole thing to hide them. The ragged parts are just part of it's charm.

Lace doilies galore! Only $.50 a piece.

A beautiful handkerchief.

Maybe my favorite find, a vintage baby dress.

Look at this wonderful embroidery!

An old book filled with organ music. It was published in 1863.

I also recently purchased some vintage metal buttons from ebay. Some of them came in! These are my fire department buttons. I should have 5, but in my excitement of opening them I accidentally dropped one in hubby's car. I sorta forgot to grab it, but I'll get it as soon as he comes home from work. Thought they all appear gold, only one of them actually is. The rest are silver.

I finished my mug exchange giftee's gift as well.

I have so much stuff to work on today! Better get to it. However, if I get a chance later I'll post again and include pictures of 2 week old lab puppies. ;) Here's a sneak peak!

A few new projects

Didn't get much done in the past few days. A few things, but not a lot. My hairdresser is moving to California and she did my hair for the last time yesterday. I made a few parting gifts for her, including a wreath and an altered sketchbook. I have to admit that I was crying a little bit when she was done. She's been such an amazing friend to me. Ladies, if there is ever someone that you should trust entirely, it's your hairdresser. She even did my hair for the wedding and really made me feel beautiful. So thanks for everything, Ally! Hope things go great for you in California!

Now for the things I did get done! For some time I've been wanting a needle book. I need somewhere to keep them seeing as they kept finding their way to my feet! I did some looking around and didn't really find anything that I liked. So I dug through the scrap piles and made my own!

I also made another one that I intend to sell.

Also bought some vintage metal buttons on ebay. I'm hoping to make a bunch of these needle books up for the craft show I'm going to on November 12th. It's taking place at the Armory in Dover, OH. Feel free to stop by and see me!

I'll also be at Valley Merry Christmas in Magnolia, OH on November 26th and 27th. Lots of vendors, food, and fun! For more information visit this site.

I tea stained some fabric scraps today and made the bases for rag ball ornaments.

In cross stitch land, I've been working on a few different projects. Two are Christmas presents, so no showing those yet! The other two I can share. I've been working on Tux (the linux mascot) for Mr. Husband as a belated birthday present. It's been laid aside so I could work on a gift for a mug exchange I'm in. Shout out to my fellow redditors! I'm working on a coffee cup sleeve for my giftee. He listed ufo's as one of his interests, so I'm running with it. Here's what I have so far.

Tomorrow, Mummsy and I are heading to Amish country to pick up some home-baked goodies. Hopefully, we'll stop in a few antique shops, too!

Cheers!
